TRANSFORMER FIRE & ANOTHER ATTEMPTED
FAST DEPLOYMENT TO BROOKLYN

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

At 12:18 this afternoon QV dispatched the Central Fire Co. to a transformer fire on Kinney Hill Road in the area of River Street.  Prior to ET-197 responding to Kinney Hill Road, QV notified Central Village units that they would be utilized for a FAST response to Beecher Road in Brooklyn for a basement fire.  As the crew at St. 97 was about to split, one to check the transformer fire and the other to go to Brooklyn, the basement fire assignment was scaled back and handled by Mortlake and East Brooklyn units only.  With this development, ET-197 proceeded to Kinney Hill Road where the involved transformer was located.  The area was secured until it was turned over to representatives from the power company.  ET-197 also made an investigation of a possible electrical problem on Main Street near the intersection of East Main Street.  That proved to be unfounded.  ET-197 returned to quarters shortly after 14:00 hours.
