ET-197 ON ONECO 2ND ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

Shortly after 13:00 hours the Central Village Fire Company was called to Plainfield Pike in the Oneco section of Sterling as part of a 2nd alarm structure fire assignment.  Oneco, Sterling, and several other mutual units had been on scene since approximately 12:30 battling a fire in a vacant chicken coop measuring 60' x 100'.  ET-197 responded with a crew of four (4).  Command directed ET-197 to set-up a draft site at the Oneco Pond adjacent to the former Sterling Elementary School.  Western Coventry, R.I. ET-18 was given the same assignment and joined the Central Village crew at the draft site.  A number of tankers were being utilized to sustain a constant water supply at the fire scene.  Central Village and Western Coventry crews worked together refilling tankers until being released at 15:00 hours.
