ON ONECO 2ND ALARM STRUCTURE FIRE

Shortly after 13:00 hours the
Central Village Fire Company was called to Plainfield Pike in the Oneco
section of Sterling as part of a 2nd alarm structure fire assignment.
Oneco, Sterling, and several other mutual units had been on scene since
approximately 12:30 battling a fire in a vacant chicken coop measuring
60' x 100'. ET-197 responded with a crew of four (4).
Command directed ET-197 to set-up a draft site at the Oneco Pond
adjacent to the former Sterling Elementary School. Western
Coventry, R.I. ET-18 was given the same assignment and joined the
Central Village crew at the draft site. A number of tankers were
being utilized to sustain a constant water supply at the fire scene.
Central Village and Western Coventry crews worked together refilling
tankers until being released at 15:00 hours. |
