CENTRAL VILLAGE RUNS CANTERBURY GARAGE
FIRE
Sunday, February 24, 2008
Shortly after 12:00 hours QV dispatched the Canterbury
Fire Department to a garage fire on Westminster Road in their first due.
The structure fire assignment was filled out with mutual aid from
Scotland, Central Village, Plainfield for ET-295 and Moosup for a FAST
response. First arriving E-193 confirmed a working fire in a
garage attached to a 1-1/2 story wood frame ranch. Central Village
units arrived shortly after Station 93 with ET-197, ET-297 and eight (8)
members. As the crew from E-193 was advancing a handline into the
living portion of the structure preventing extension, the crew from
ET-197 stretched an additional line and was ordered to extinguish the
heavy fire condition in the garage. Once all visible fire was
knocked down, Station 97 crews assisted with extensive overhaul.
Central Village units operated for just over two (2) hours before
returning to service.
