MUTUAL AID TO CANTERBURY FOR THE
ELECTRICAL FIRE
Saturday, January 26, 2008
Just after 13:00 hours a
structure fire assignment was dispatched to Canterbury for a reported
electrical fire in the cafeteria of the Dr. Helen Baldwin School.
This brought 93, 16, 97, ET-295 & L-194 FAST to the scene. Central
Village responded with ET-197 & ET-297. Canterbury Deputy Chief
McCarthy (C-193) arrived minutes later reporting nothing apparent from
the exterior of an educational facility. Further investigation of
the cafeteria revealed a smoke condition and a moderate electrical odor,
but no visible fire or source of the problem. Canterbury units
opened up and ventilated while a crew from Central Village was assigned
to check the upper level of the building. The crew from L-194 was
requested to check the roof level for any abnormalities. All
findings were negative and mutual aid companies were released. The
Fire Marshal remained on scene with Station 93 to investigate further.
