CENTRAL VILLAGE CALLED TO PLAINFIELD BRUSH FIRE

Friday, April 25, 2008

At 13:40 hours QV dispatched Central Village units to assist the Plainfield Fire Department with a quick-moving brush fire on Lathrop Road in their first due.  ET-197 & F-197 responded on the run with combined staffing of six (6) members.  While en route to Plainfield, QV redirected Station 97 to a report of a separate grass fire near the intersection of Norwich Road and Lathrop Road Ext.  ET-197 located a very small fire and had it controlled within minutes before continuing onto the original assignment.  The crew from F-197 arrived and immediately went to work extinguishing fire in close proximity to a residence.  Personnel staffing  ET-197 also began knocking down fire while the apparatus chauffer shuttled loads of water from the fill site to brush units on the fireground.  Several other mutual aid forestry apparatus and tankers were called to the scene before the estimated 15 acre fire was brought under control.  Central Village units assisted on scene until 18:00 hours.
