E. MAIN STREET VEHICLE FIRE
Tuesday,
June 24, 2008 - Just after 20:00 hours The
Central Village Fire Company was dispatched to a vehicle fire in the
parking lot of
7-Eleven on E. Main
Street. First arriving Captain Holcomb (C-397) reported the
fire to be extinguished by a patron of the store, and the balance of
the assignment could respond with traffic. The passenger
compartment of the vehicle, which sustained moderate damage, was
further overhauled by additional fire company personnel. The
Plainfield Police and Fire Marshal were also called to the scene.
Central Village units returned to service by 21:00 hours.

THE GRINCH VISITS CENTRAL...IN JUNE
Sunday,
June 22, 2008 - Shortly after a period of violent
weather moved through the area QV dispatched Central Village units to a
clothes donation bin on fire on E. Main Street near the intersection of
Green Hollow Road. ET-197 responded with a crew of four (4).
Upon arrival the contents of the donation bin were extinguished and
overhauled within a short period of time. The Fire Marshal's
Office was notified of the incident, and ET-197 returned to service
within 15 minutes. |

SMOKE IN
THE BUILDING: CENTRAL PLAZA
Friday, June
20, 2008 - Just after 19:00 hours Central Village
units were dispatched to a report of smoke in the building at the
Central Plaza on E. main Street. ET-197 responded on the run with
six (6) members. First arriving Assistant Chief Irons (C-297)
reported nothing showing from the exterior of a 1-1/2 story ordinary
construction. Further investigation revealed a moderate smoke
condition in the Subway Sandwich Shop. Employees believed the
furnace had malfunctioned, producing the smoke. Upon arrival the
crew ET-197 split to accomplish all of the needed tasks. One group
conducted a thorough search of the establishment and adjacent
businesses, while the other crew initiated ventilation and air
monitoring. It was determined smoke from outdoor grilling entered
Subway's A/C unit and was distributed throughout the shop by way of the
ductwork. After certifying the atmosphere, employees were allowed
to re-enter the building. Central Village units cleared the scene
by 20:00 hours. |

CENTRAL VILLAGE ON PICKETT ROAD
ROLLOVER
Tuesday,
June 17, 2008 - Shortly after 18:00 hours, and
just as weekly training was about to commence, QV dispatched Central
Village units to a reported rollover in the area of 21 Pickett Road.
ET-197 and R-197 with combined staffing of eight (8) members were on
scene within minutes. Deputy Chief LaPierre (C-197) reported a
corrected address of 4 Pickett Road, and that all injuries appeared to
be minor. Crews controlled hazards and assisted the Plainfield
Police with traffic control. The two (2) occupants of the vehicle
opted to refuse medical care. Central Village units cleared the
scene just prior to 18:45 hours. |

NORWICH ROAD MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT
Sunday,
June 8, 2008 - Around 10:00 hours the Central
Village Fire Company was dispatched to a motorcycle accident on Norwich
Road in the area of Evergreen Street. At the time of the dispatch,
the severity of injuries were unknown. ET-197 responded on the run
with a crew of five (5). First arriving Assistant Chief Irons
(C-297) found a single motorcycle down with it's operator having been
thrown some twenty (20) feet into a grassy area adjacent to Norwich
Road. Personnel from the A.L. Post 91 Ambulance Corps initiated
patient care while the crew from ET-197 controlled hazards. The
operator was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening
injuries. Central Village units returned to quarters by 11:00
hours. |
